he used to say bad things about good people but they always turned out to be true. he could read a voice or a face or a situation astonishingly well but instead of being scared i'd just agree with him. i felt pity for him although he didn't need it. maybe he did. even though he could admit his weaknesses, i could see the ones that he hid. he'd throw pretty women around the place acting as if they weren't trophies but i knew he got some sort of satisfaction of it. out of something he pretended to despise. it didn't make any sense and i felt sadness for him. and then time went on and he had to learn for himself but he always chooses the worst kind. the ones he thinks he can nurse back to health, like a bird with a broken wing. they never get better though. he chooses the irreparable. knowingly.

I edited the last post I made about Curves. I apologized for a couple things. Go read if you wish. Anyway, if there's anyone here who still thinks I am a nice person (I promise, I am!) , I was wondering if anyone could answer these questions for me.
First off, PETA. Why do a lot of vegetarians and vegans dislike PETA? Besides the fact that some people might be against their aggressive marketing strategy, aren't they still doing good by getting information out there about the truths of the meat and dairy industry, etc. OR is it true that they're doing more bad than good? Are they actually instead turning people OFF to vegetarianism because of their extreme ways of presenting things? Is that why a lot of people don't like them?
Secondly, hunting. I happen to be in a band where a few of the members in my band apparently hunt every now and then. Now they know I am vegan and they are actually really nice people. They respect me and I respect them. I try to look at it in the way of, "Ok they just don't know any better", "They were brought up that way", etc. But one of the fans of our band was talking to me the other day and he said, "Yup, it's what we do, We hunt and it helps with overpopulation". Then I went and talked to one of my fellow workers in the restaurant I work at, and they called it something like "Game control". A lot of people have this weird view that they're helping the animals from being overpopulated (Deer, moose, etc .). But isn't it just that they are overpopulating US? And isn't that OUR fault because there are actually too many of US, and not too many of them? I mean help me out here...someone give me a link or something where someone has a strong argument for this whole game control thing, because I don't quite get it.
Thanks, *Jen*

my first vegan happiness post (which would be in the vegan_happiness community, except I'm not a member):
Discovering a brand of milk bottle lollies that are vegan and surprising my girlfriend, who was recently bemoaning the fact that they're not vegan due to gelatine and telling me how much she missed them, with a packet of them!
For those in Australia, the brand is Black & Gold - those cheapo ones you can find at corner shops.

I'm posting this one my mom's behalf, who is having a tremendously difficult time with restless leg syndrome. It's gotten to the point that it's severely impacted her ability to sleep and is really affecting her general health and wellness in a lot of different areas.
She's been taking the medicine Requip, which no longer works, regardless of dose. She tried a med called Manipex, which steeply raised her blood pressure so the doc pulled her from it, but it didn't work anyway. Her medical doctor is out of solutions and has kind of left her hanging.
She takes iron, a good multi vitamin, a product called Magnilife which is marketed for restless leg syndrome, but it doesn't seem to be working either. She's tried Valarian to help her sleep, but the legs wake and keep her awake all night. She's otherwise extremely healthy, walks two miles a day and eats a very healthy and low fat diet. The lack of sleep is affecting her ability to function during the day, but she's not keen on sleeping pills unless that's the only solution.
We would be very appreciative of any advice or recommendations. Thank you in advance. :)

Ugh...I haven't been able to work in my journal or my "boyfriend book" since graduating college and moving back into my parent's house. I have no desk or able to unpack while I'm here. I hate it! I have alot of built up creative engery. Plus I feel like I need to hide my journal. I never felt the way with it before. I hate it!

Hello everyone.
I have massive amounts of dandelions growing in my yard. They don't really bother me (though I am not motivated to utilize them at all). However, I live in a trailer park in which yard appearance matters. And they grow so fast, my yard looks like complete crap. It doesn't help I'm on a 'main road'.
Anyway, is there any natural way to get rid of these suckers, aside from taking a fork to them individually? I don't want to put any kind of chemical on my lawn, but I also don't want the problem to continue to escalate. I do have children and stray cats that run the yard, and I'd rather not kill the grass that's there, too.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
